1. Make a budget, but don’t be surprised by going over budget!
We know, we know – You have already mapped out every detail of your wedding budget and where each dollar is going to go from sparklers to your wedding shoes. However, the thing about unexpected expenses is that they are, well – unexpected. Your florist may come to you with a few more centerpiece options that raise the price but that are absolutely to die for. It is possible that once all your RSVP’s return, you have more confirmations that you thought – Which means 1. YAY, Party! 2. We need more food!
There are so many unexpected things that can come up while wedding planning, our point here is – Don’t stress out about it. Leave some margin in your budget for the unseen, unplanned things that may happen. Who knows, if you end up coming under budget in the end, that means more money for the honeymoon! Woohoo!
2. Have a backup plan (Plan B)
Honestly, we have yet to meet a bride who didn’t fear rain or storms on her wedding day. We also have yet to meet a bride who was able to do anything about the forecast! Here’s the point – You can’t control the weather on your wedding day and its OK! Your guests are not coming to enjoy the sunshine, they are coming to witness your love and celebrate you! Having a backup plan for weather or other “worst-case scenarios” always ends up easing your mind and alleviating what could be a stressful situation.
3. Wedding DJ’s can Make or Break your reception
Have you ever been to a wedding where the feedback of the microphone was making you almost deaf in one ear? Or have you ever been to a wedding where the DJ is talking the whole time about something other than the bride and groom? We do not want this to be your wedding! We firmly believe that a great DJ/MC can either make or break your reception. You’ve worked so hard for so many months planning this perfect evening, inviting your friends and family and spending top dollar on all of the many different factors to make this night beautiful. We want you to feel confident that whoever is holding a microphone on your wedding day is someone that you can trust! Our team at It’s Your Night is experienced & professional DJ’s that aren’t going to embarrass you or take the night to promote ourselves. We may be biased, but we truly do believe this is the number one most important thing in planning your reception!
4. Book an amazing photographer
Your wedding album is how you’ll relive the cherished memories of your day, so don’t underestimate the importance of a good photographer. Research carefully and find someone who understands exactly what you want. Engagement shoots are a great idea too because you’ll get to know your photographer better as well as practice your poses! We hear a lot of brides say “My wedding felt like a blur” – We think that with a great photographer, you can relive your wedding over and over again and experience every detail whenever you look back at your photos!
5. Breath, Celebrate, Have Fun
At the end of the day, you are planning your wedding – not just an amazing party for everyone to gather. Remember to enjoy each moment. Look your friends and family in the eyes during the hustle and bustle of getting everything ready. Stop and literally smell your wedding bouquet! Soak in every moment and create memories that last longer than the sparklers during your exit. Wedding planning can be stressful but if you find yourself getting too caught up in it all, take a step back and remind yourself what your wedding is really about – you marrying the love of your life!
