Can you give us a quick bio of who you are and what makes Sage Fine Flowers such a unique wedding vendor?
Tisa hails from the golden Mississippi Gulf Coast, where she grew up water-skiing, riding horses in hunter shows, and generally loving nature. She received a BA in Philosophy at the University of Dallas and was able to travel the world during her twenties. It is exposure to the good life – travel, architecture and art – that informs her organic style. The love of beauty and love of LOVE really make Sage stand out in the floral industry.
How and when did you get started in this business?
Tisa took a part-time job as a junior designer in a mom and pop flower shop during her junior year of college. The art and science of floral design really intrigued her, and she fell in love with it! From that humble beginning, she was able to work for Zen in Dallas, then AvantGarden, and eventually, Todd Events. Sage was created in 2014, when she decided to bring her touch to luxury weddings in Fort Worth.
What is your favorite feature/fun fact about Sage Fine Flowers?
The name for Sage came to Tisa while she was mowing the lawn to music by Sage the Rapper! Music has always been a huge inspiration to her work.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of this job is getting to take part in this most important day of her clients. She loves love and is now sharing this love with her own kids who are taking part in the company!
What trends are you seeing and loving right now in the industry?
COLOR!!! Weddings are FINALLY starting to feature lots of bright colors! Gone are the days of the ubiquitous white-only wedding palette. Brides are now choosing a festival of color, and we are HERE FOR IT!!!
If you could give your couples just one important piece of advice while planning, what would that be?
The one piece of advice I give to every young couple: “If you invite them, they will come.” So, if you are concerned about budget, make sure that you keep a tight watch over your guest list. Every guest will need food, drinks, cake, and of course, floral decor to appreciate. That all adds up!
What do you like to do for fun when not working?
TRAVEL! Especially to a beach where I can snorkel, ski, or boat. I also love to try new restaurants, ride horses, and watch movies with my kids.
