We’re back with another IYN Spotlight where we share a bit about awesome vendors in the DFW area and this week we are chatting with Tami, Owner of Tami Winn Events!
Tell us about Tami Winn Events!
Tami Winn Events was started in 2003, but I have been in the floral industry since I was 16 years old. I have Jamie on the team and we are a dynamic duo that each bring our own unique expertise to create beautiful events. Combined, we offer the best of both worlds by creating stunning designs along with flawless execution.
Along with planning, we also do floral for weddings! From beautiful bouquets and boutonnieres to stunning centerpieces and tablescapes, we always tailor florals to fit our clients unique styles.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Getting to know people, especially families, and to be a part of their most special time.
How do you stay organized, especially as a team?
We are both type-A so organization isn’t normally an issue for us! In addition to being organized in general, we use an online planning system for our clients as well as keep a detailed binder for each event.
What is your secret for staying calm under pressure when something doesn’t go as planned at a wedding?
Honestly, we try to not have any surprises at weddings by creating a very detailed timeline, going over each order in the event in depth to ensure all aspects have been covered, and also communication with vendors in advance is key. On the rare occasion things don’t go exactly as planned, it’s ok! There is usually a simple way to fix it and move on.
Because we’re in the biz, what are your favorite songs to dance to?
Anything 90’s hiphop!
When you’re not planning weddings, what can we find you doing?
We’re both avid soccer moms. You’ll normally catch either one of us at the soccer fields!
